How do I register?

How do I get to the Northwestern Christian Writers Conference? ​
The conference takes place at University of Northwestern – St Paul, MN. Click here for directions.
Once you arrive on campus, parking assistants will direct you to parking and registration locations.
Can I bring my baby to the conference? ​
Children and babies are very important to us. However, the conference format is not conducive to children. In order to limit distractions to other attendees, infants and children are not allowed. Please begin making childcare arrangements now. We appreciate your cooperation. A private lactation room will be available for nursing mothers. Mothers are responsible for bringing their own equipment and storing breast milk should they desire to do so. ​
Is there a hotel close to the conference? ​

Do I need to choose the workshops I would like to attend before I arrive at the conference?
No, you will select the workshops you wish to attend at the conference. Saturday workshops are first come, first served the day of the conference.

What does my registration include?

What should I bring? ​
Your one-page pitch, book proposal or manuscript if you plan to meet for a 1:1 appointment with a faculty member. A journal, Bible, and money if you are interested in purchasing items from the conference bookstore.
If I cannot attend the conference what can I do with my tickets? ​
Tickets are non-refundable. A few options would include:
  • Try to sell the tickets; the Ticket Office (651-631-5151) will simply need to know whose name should be on the registration packet.
  • Bless someone with the tickets; the Ticket Office (651-631-5151) will simply need to know whose name should be on the registration packet.
  • Donate them to the conference for others who would love to attend, but do not have the means necessary. 
Are gluten-free or vegetarian meal options available?
​Yes, there are gluten-free and vegetarian options available. You will be prompted to enter your dietary restrictions or needs during the registration process.
How should I prepare for the conference?
Michael Hyatt has a great article for first-time authors as well as an article on how to write a winning book proposal. We highly encourage you to start preparing now. During your 1:1 appointment agents and editors are interested in your pitch, proposal, manuscript, and getting to know you.
How do I apply for a scholarship or award? How will I know if I won?

Scholarship winners will find out before the conference if they have won.

Award winners will find out at the conference during the Awards Ceremony and will be called on to the stage to receive their award. 
What should I wear to the conference?
Suggested attire at the Northwestern Christian Writers Conference is business casual. Please check the weather and plan accordingly. You will be moving between buildings, rain or shine.

How and when do I book my 1:1 appointment?
You will be able to book your 1:1 appointment after you register for the conference. Please check your inbox within 24 hours after registering, as you'll receive an email with instructions on how to book your 1:1 appointment. There are only 500 1:1 appointments available on a first come, first served basis. 

In order to make the most of your 1:1 appointment, we recommend that you carefully review the faculty members' areas of expertise, needs, and requests and identify those best suited for your goals as a writer. ​​ ​
Will the workshops be recorded and available to purchase after the conference?
Workshops will NOT be recorded at this year's conference.
Photography & Video disclaimer
The Northwestern Christian Writers Conference (NCWC) reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken at the conference, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. NCWC may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by NCWC including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, etc. To ensure the privacy of individuals and children, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written approval from the photographed subject, parent or legal guardian. A person attending NCWC who does not wish to have their image recorded for distribution should make their wishes known to the photographer, and/or the event organizers, and/or contact NCWC at 3003 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul, MN 55113, in writing of his/her intentions and include a photograph. NCWC will use the photo for identification purposes and will hold it in confidence. By participating in NCWC or by failing to notify NCWC, in writing, your desire to not have your photograph used by NCWC, you are agreeing to release, defend, hold harmless, and indemnify NCWC from any and all claims involving the use of your picture or likeness. Any person or organization not affiliated with NCWC may not use, copy, alter or modify NCWC photographs, graphics, videography or other similar reproductions or recordings without the advance written permission of an authorized designee from NCWC. Will refunds be issued if the conference is cancelled?
Yes and No:
  • Yes = If the conference is cancelled by UNW or Faith Radio, we will offer refunds to those that would like to be refunded. However, you will also be able to transfer this year's registration to the following year.
  • No = If the conference is not cancelled, but you decide not to attend, there will be no refunds offered. You have the following options:
